With Cirque Series, On is finally bringing the most famous mountain running series in the USA to Europe – to Engelberg in the Swiss Alps to be precise.
The event brings professional athletes, ambitious amateurs and curious beginners together. Cirque Series celebrates the running experience in a unique scenery in the mountains – also with a legendary party atmosphere.
In terms of the vertical challenge, the race is one of the most demanding of its kind, with 15 km and almost 1000 metres in altitude. Around 500 professionals and amateurs will take on the trails in Engelberg on 24 September 2022, transforming the famous ski resort into a trail-running capital.
The Race
The beauty of the Cirque Series is its inclusivity: anyone can be a part of it. It’s no different in Engelberg. Professional runners try to win the prize money with a good time. But since the course is “only” 15 km long, it is also a good introduction for beginners. In total, about 70% of all Cirque Series participants compete in the beginner/advanced category.
The race is anything but a walk in the park. Running 15 km at a stretch is no mean feat, and there is also technically demanding terrain, tricky climbs and fast downhill sections. For all those who are gaining their first experience of trail competitions, or for beginners who want to tackle a tough but doable challenge, the Cirque Series in Engelberg is just the thing. And if your legs are about to give up on the last few metres of the climb, you can count on the spirit and good vibes of this event to keep you going.
The Party
It doesn’t end after the race. The Cirque Series is known for bringing runners, volunteers and locals together after the race for a party with good music, food and drinks.
