Staff at six Up & Running stores, along with local running enthusiasts, are preparing to rack up the miles in an inter-shop treadmill competition to raise money for Heart Research UK.
On February 11, between 10am – 3pm, six teams consisting of Up & Running employees, members of the shop’s social run group and other local runners will be taking on each other to see who can run the furthest to be crowned champions. The Basingstoke, Reading, Chiswick, Teddington, Milton Keynes and Manchester stores are all taking part in the challenge, which is a great opportunity to raise as much money as possible for the running shop’s charity partner, Heart Research UK.
This is the latest in a number of events and challenges that Up & Running employees have undertaken to raise awareness of heart health, as well as vital funds for the pioneering research work that Heart Research UK carries out.
Stephen, Store Manager for Up & Running Manchester, said: “The challenge shares one of the key values of Heart Research UK, which is to promote heart health, and exercise is a key component to that. Obviously, we all have a passion for running and enjoy some friendly competition, so we’re hoping ‘shred the tread’ will be a success and raise a large amount for Heart Research UK.”
Throughout the event there will also be giveaways at each of the stores from New Balance, Rawvelo, Spektrum and Moggans as well as raffle prizes to be won.
