Introducing Treadflow – adidas Running unveils the first ever shoe designed for the treadmill

Engineered specifically for the demands of the belt, the Treadflow features adidas’ CLIMACOOL technology which acts like built-in air conditioning for the feet

adidas has introduced Treadflow – the first-ever running shoe designed from the ground up for the treadmill. As indoor running continues to rise in popularity, Treadflow sets a new benchmark in tailored performance for athletes who chose to run on the belt – whether for convenience, climate, or as part of their training regimen.

Representing a new era in treadmill performance, the Treadflow integrates adidas’ leading tech – including CLIMACOOL and Lightstrike Pro – with a new ultra-light, breathable construction. Every element of the footwear is precision-tuned to the treadmill’s unique mechanics, from the belt’s surface to the gym environment around it.

Patrick Nava, VP Product at adidas Running, said: “As pioneers in the running space, we are constantly innovating to support our entire running community. Recognizing the surge in treadmill running, we set out to create the first-ever shoe specifically designed for this unique environment. By combining key insights into treadmill runners’ needs with our performance-focussed technologies, we’ve delivered a shoe that offers tailored dual cushioning, 360-degree breathability and traction for a better experience on the treadmill.”

Tuned for the treadmill, the Treadflow is engineered to provide:

  • 360-degree breathability – adidas’ CLIMACOOL upper material technology acts like built-in air conditioning, with light open mesh zones wrapping around the foot to deliver a constant flow of cool air within sweaty indoor gym environments. Meanwhile, in-built outsole cut-outs offer optimal airflow and thermoregulation as the foot hits the belt.
  • Tailor-made cushioning – A dual-cushioning midsole technology that combines adidas’ Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro foams –from the record-breaking Adizero range – is optimized to work in sync with the cushioning effect of the treadmill, for energy return and a fast, engaging transition.
  • Traction – A LIGHTTRAXION outsole provides traction on the belt, while being light in weight.

The Treadflow launches in a Halo Mint / Mint Ton / Lucid Lemon colourway for women and Mint Ton / Pure Teal / Powder Teal colourway for men, complimented by an apparel range that features CLIMACOOL technology. The footwear is available from September 1, 2025 via https://www.adidas.co.uk/men-running-shoes, on the adidas app and in selected retail stores.
