Maranello, March 29, 2026 – In a weekend that will remain etched in the memories of thousands of participants and spectators, the 2026 edition of the Italy Half Marathon – Enzo Ferrari Memorial has come to a close.
For the second consecutive year, Ferrari opened up its most iconic locations – normally inaccessible to the public – to offer runners and enthusiasts a unique experience. This choice highlights the deep bond between the Prancing Horse and the Motor Valley region.
As Hosting Partner, Ferrari made available the central avenue of its company campus, its Fiorano Track, and the new Ferrari e-Vortex circuit, transforming these spaces into an unprecedented course for runners. An extraordinary setting, designed to raise he international profile of an event born and grown with and for the local area, involving the four municipalities along the route: Maranello, Fiorano Modenese, Formigine, and Modena.
A competitive race and a celebration open to all
The Mezza Maratona d’Italia, organized by RCS Sports & Events in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region and local authorities, concluded with 15,000 registered participants. The presence of 32% international athletes from 88 countries around the world confirms its global appeal. The starting line was drawn in front of the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, where the Mezza Maratona Running Show was set up. The main race, covering the 21.097 km distance, offered a unique route that combined sport, industrial history, and local identity, culminating in the finish line in the heart of Modena, in Piazza Roma.
The overall winners of the half marathon were the Kenyan athletes Dennis Kipruto and Regina Wambui Ndugu. The first Italians to finish were Thomas D’Este and Sara Bottarelli. In the FISPES category, Rita Cuccuru won among the women for the second consecutive year, while Giuseppe Gabriele Terzano was the first among the men.
In addition to the competitive aspect, the Italy Half Marathon programme included a non- competitive 10 km race and a 5 km Family Run, which involved 7,000 participants.
Medals created by Ferrari
As in 2025, the medals awarded to the half marathon winners are crafted in Ferrari’s own facilities. Symbolising the balance between tradition and innovation, each piece is brought to life through a process that combines craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. A bar of recycled aluminium is shaped using state-of-the-art 5-axis machinery and individually finished by the skilled hands of Maranello technicians, in the same plants where racing and road car components are produced. Finally, expert manual ceramic sandblasting and polishing give each medal its brilliance and uniqueness, further enhanced by personalised laser engraving. Completing the work, the case that holds the medal is hand-covered in upcycled leather, the same leather used for Ferrari cars’ interiors.
A positive impact for the region: renewal of sports and school facilities
The event aims to create a long-term positive impact on the region. The proceeds from registrations and partner contributions, net of organisational costs, will be allocated to development and renovation projects for sports and school facilities in the municipalities along the route, strengthening the link between sport, education, and the community.
The Italy Half Marathon – Enzo Ferrari Memorial thus confirms itself not only as an internationally significant sporting event, but also as a celebration, a moment of sharing, and an opportunity for the future of the region.
Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, stated:
“The Half Marathon of Italy ‘Enzo Ferrari Memorial’ is not just a race; it is an event that transforms our roads into a stage for energy and togetherness. Today I experienced a unique emotion, passing through Ferrari’s iconic locations, exceptionally opened to thousands of people from all over the world. Special thanks to the athletes, volunteers, associations, and the public who made this weekend of sport possible with 15,000 registered runners. By opening the doors of our company and supporting this event, we reaffirm our commitment to the region and contribute to improving the sports and school facilities of the cities involved.”
