Jogon Shortlisted for Two Major Sustainability Awards

Jogon, the pioneering initiative tackling the global sports footwear waste crisis, has been recognised for its game-changing mission by being shortlisted for the Sustainability in Sport category at the 2025 Sports Business Awards and nominated for a prestigious BBC Green Sport Award 2025 in the Pioneer category, which recognises an individual or organisation who has led the way in sporting sustainability either across a lifetime of work or by making a significant impact in the past year.

Jogon’s mission is simple but urgent: to keep 1 million pairs of running shoes out of landfill and give them a second life. With over 33 million pairs of trainers discarded in the UK alone each year, Jogon provides a nationwide solution by collecting unwanted running shoes and distributing them to people in need, both in the UK and around the world.

The Sports Business Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the sports sector, with the Sustainability in Sport category highlighting organisations making a tangible impact on environmental responsibility. The BBC Green Sport Awards honour those driving positive climate action through sport, recognising projects that showcase innovation, leadership, and measurable results.

Tony Piedade, Founder of Jogon, said: “We’re incredibly proud to see Jogon recognised by both the Sports Business Awards and the BBC Green Sport Awards this year. These nominations are a testament to the power of collaboration within the sports community. From running clubs to retail partners, all are uniting to help tackle the footwear waste problem. Our mission to stop one million pairs of trainers ending up in landfill is ambitious, but with this growing momentum, we’re proving that positive change is possible.”

The winners of the Sports Business Awards will be announced on Friday, 28 November 2025, at The Brewery, London. The BBC Green Sport Award winners will be revealed on Monday, 6th October 2025.
