SCHLEGEIS3000 – trail running event in the Zillertal

On July 21st and 22nd, 2023, the spectacular Schlegeis3000 trail running event will take place at the Schlegeis reservoir in the Zillertal.

The event, organized by the Mountainheroes Zillertal association, promises to be an unforgettable experience for all runners and spectators.

Embedded in the impressive landscape of the Zillertal Alps at an altitude of 1,800 meters, the Schlegeis3000 race offers a unique backdrop for the participants. The trail running routes lead along the Schlegeis reservoir and offer breathtaking panoramic views of the main Alpine ridge. Both professional athletes and hobby runners can experience their personal highlight here. 

The event consists of different races:

Vertical Race:
On July 21, 2023, the Vertical Race starts at 3:00 p.m. With a route length of 4.9 km and an
altitude difference of 1100 m and finish at the 2905 meter high Riepenkopf, this race is a real test for the ascent specialists.

Skyrace and Trailrun:
On July 22, 2023, the Skyrace and Trailrun will start at 07:00 and 08:00 respectively. The Skyrace, with a length of 34 km and a difference in altitude of 2380 m, represents an outstanding challenge for both professionals and ambitious hobby runners. The trail run, on the other hand, offers a unique run with a length of 17 km and a difference in altitude of 1,200 m on the breathtaking panoramic mountain paths of the Zillertal Experience for hobby runners and speed hikers.

The Schlegeis3000 is one of the trail running highlights of 2023 and includes participation in the renowned Skyrunner World Series, the Vertical Austria Series (Austrian State Championship), the Skyrunner Austria Series and the ASTA Trail Running Cup.

As part of the international Skyrunning World Series, which is organized by the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) and includes 13 races worldwide, the Schlegeis3000 represents a special highlight of the event.  

The Schlegeis3000 Skyrace attracts the best athletes in the world to compete in one of the most technically demanding skyraces in Europe. They compete for the prestigious Schlegeis Trophy 
and a total prize money of €6000. 

The Schlegeis3000 is more than just a running event, it is a spectacle that 
inspires runners and spectators alike.

Registrations for the Vertical and Trailun routes are still possible until shortly before the competition!
