Sustainability at the Heart of this Year’s Race
2021 marks the fifth year of CamelBak’s partnership with the UTMB®. The company will release a custom UTMB bottle series made of TritanTMRenew and a custom collection of UTMB branded drinkware.
PETALUMA, CA – USA – August 3rd, 2021 – CamelBak®, the global leader in award- winning personal hydration products, is once again the official hydration packs sponsor of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® (UTMB) for 2021.
The UTMB® is widely regarded as one of the most challenging foot races in Europe: over 10,000 runners, 92 nationalities competing in 7 races.
The event will take place in Chamonix, France, from August 23rd to August 29th and features multiple trail-running races as part of the Ultra-Trail World Tour.
CamelBak’s core mission of providing reusable hydration solutions has been a founding principle ever since the brand’s inception. The company is a partner of various sustainability and conservation organizations including bluesign®, the Conservation Alliance and the EOCA. For many years the brand has been leading a #ditchdisposable movement: ditching disposable bottles and instead using and re- using outdoor or everyday bottles is a way to reduce the amount of plastics that end up in landfills and pollute our oceans.
The UTMB partnership is also aimed at raising awareness towards the importance of reusable hydration solutions. Therefore, during the event, CamelBak will sell limited edition custom branded UTMB inox HorizonTM drinkware (mugs, cups, tumblers) as well as UTMB branded outdoor bottles, made of TritanTM Renew.
Tritan Renew is a Polyester Renewal Technology (PRT) manufactured by Eastman, a more efficient process that produces material made with 50% recycled content. Tritan Renew is currently available in all CamelBak non-insulated bottle lines: Eddy® +, Chute® Mag, Chute® Mag Kids, Carry Cap and Eddy® + Kids bottles.
CamelBak athletes, including New Zealand athlete Scotty Hawker, will be competing at the UTMB this year. In the latest edition of the UTMB, Scotty finished 3rd, after a great performance with a prototype of CamelBak’s recently launched Zephyr vest.
He will be at the starting line again this year, with the very latest Zephyr model.
A wide range of trail running specific CamelBak products will also be on the trails of all UTMB races, including the UltraTM Pro Vest, the NanoTM Vest and of course, the new ZephyrTM Vest.
