Partnership coincides with launch of Team Green, a new initiative designed to reduce environmental impact at the event.
London Marathon Events (LME) has announced HydraPak as Official Sustainability Partner for the Brighton Marathon, the first such appointment at one of its events. It is also the first time California-based HydraPak has partnered with a UK event.
Brighton Marathon runners who opt into Team Green – an option that reduces event transport emissions – will receive a custom-designed HydraPak SpeedCup. Runners and events across the world use SpeedCups to reduce waste at feed stations, removing the need for single-use plastic bottles or paper cups. The SpeedCup is crushable and packable, weighs just 10g and easily stashes in a pocket between stations.
Team Green is a new initiative to reduce the environmental impact of the event. All Brighton Marathon participants can sign up and join Team Green, which reduces vehicle movements from the Start to the Finish of the event, by not bringing a kitbag with them.

Jennifer Krupey, Vice President of Marketing at HydraPak, says: “Carrying your own cup or bottle is a powerful and practical solution for reducing event-day waste. We’re proud to be the inaugural Official Sustainability Partner and excited to help runners discover the benefits of carrying their own hydration.”
Kate Chapman, Head of Sustainability at London Marathon Events, says: “Brighton is one of the most forward-thinking cities in the UK when it comes to sustainability, so it’s only right that Brighton Marathon Weekend is the first event for LME to introduce an Official Sustainability Partner. Innovations like the HydraPak SpeedCup allow us to reduce single-use cups on the route while helping participants stay safely hydrated. We’re delighted to bring HydraPak onboard as we take another step on our journey to eliminating single-use plastic at all our events.”

HydraPak will be active throughout Brighton Marathon Weekend, 11-12 April, with product showcases, giveaways, and participant engagement at Brighton Miles and the Beach Village Festival. Additional athlete-led experiences and community runs will be announced closer to race weekend.
