Garmin has confirmed that Ventura, California, will host the fourth event in its Garmin Marathon Series on Sunday 22 August 2027, bringing the company’s road-running programme to the US West Coast.
The event will include a Boston Marathon-qualifying full marathon, a USATF-certified half marathon, a 10K and a 5K. Routes are planned to start and finish in downtown Ventura, with scenery spanning the Pacific coast and surrounding mountains.
More than a race weekend
A two-day expo will showcase Garmin technology, partner brands and local exhibitors. Limited-edition event merchandise and family activities are planned, while a finish-line festival in downtown Ventura will bring runners and spectators together after the races.
Garmin vice-president of consumer sales and marketing Susan Lyman said Ventura’s running community and coastal landscape made it a natural addition to the series. The organising committee includes Garmin, Visit Ventura, city agencies, the local chamber of commerce and California State Parks.
What runners need to know
Registration is open for all four distances. Garmin also has events scheduled in Tucson in November 2026 and Durham in May 2027. Runners should consult the official event information for entry conditions, course details and travel arrangements as race weekend approaches.
For specialist running retailers, the expansion illustrates the increasing role of technology brands as race organisers and community builders, beyond their conventional product and sponsorship activity.
