After days of extreme endurance through the treacherous Pennine landscape Kim Collison has been crowned the champion of the 2025 Montane Winter Spine Race.
This victory marks a momentous achievement for Collison, who completed the Montane Winter Spine Race in a remarkable 82 hours and 46 minutes, the third fastest completion time in history.
After three previous years where he was forced to retire due to the extreme conditions and physical toll of the race, Collison’s triumph in 2025 is a testament to his resilience and determination to conquer the UK’s Most Brutal Endurance Race.
The Montane Winter Spine Race 2025 saw athletes from around the world battle harsh terrain and unpredictable weather along the 268-mile course in one of the toughest endurance challenges in the world.
The challenge is amplified by a staggering total ascent of 10,732 metres—more than 1,800 metres higher than the summit of Everest—and a thigh-shredding total descent of 10,941 metres.
This year’s race has been especially tough, with competitors battling not only physical exhaustion but also fierce winter conditions that forced some athletes to retire early.
