Known for her remarkable resilience and tactical mind, the elite British competitor joins On to continue her journey of redefining what’s possible in triathlon.
On is proud to announce that Kat Matthews is the latest world class athlete to join its global triathlon team. A master of the full-distance discipline, the British professional brings a unique blend of military-grade discipline and record-breaking speed to the Swiss sportswear brand.
Matthews’ ascent has been nothing short of legendary. Since turning professional in 2019—a debut season that saw her claim a European Championship title just four months into full-time training—she has redefined the limits of endurance. She is a multi-time World Championship silver medalist and made history as the first woman to complete a full-distance triathlon in under eight hours, clocking 7:31:57 at the Pho3nix Sub8 Project.
Her 2024 and 2025 seasons cemented her status as the world’s premier long-distance competitor, securing back-to-back overall titles in the professional series. In 2025, she shattered the world-best time for the full distance with an 8:10:34 victory in Texas, before lowering her personal best further to a remarkable 8:05:13 later that season.
“My career has been defined by a drive to see exactly how fast a human can go when they refuse to quit,” said Kat Matthews. “From my days as an amateur to breaking world records, I’ve always looked for partners who share that obsession with progress. On’s commitment to Swiss-engineered innovation is the perfect match for my goals as I continue to push the boundaries of the sport.”
Beyond the podiums, Matthews is celebrated for her profound “never-give-up” spirit. Her return to the elite level following a life-threatening training accident in 2022 remains one of the sport’s most powerful comeback stories. A two-time runner-up at the long-distance World Championships, her performance at the 2025 edition was a masterclass in run speed, where she set a historic course record of 2:47:23. Her ability to navigate recovery with the same precision she applies to her racing provides a deep source of inspiration for athletes globally.
“Kat is a generational talent, but what truly stands out is the human behind the records,” said Maria Ortega, Athlete Manager at On. “She balances an incredible analytical mind with a warmth, vulnerability, and a consistently positive mindset that connect with people. Kat’s journey hasn’t been a straight line to the top; it’s been a story of immense patience and a quiet, steady grit that inspires everyone around her. She perfectly embodies On’s spirits—authenticity and the courage to explore new limits—making her a natural fit for our team.”
