On’s global series of running events gets underway with Track Fest L.A.

After months of preparations and anticipation, Swiss sportswear brand On’s global running event series, “On Track Nights,” is finally getting started.

The first On Track Nights event of the year features the best of Los Angeles’ music scene and some of the world’s best athletes, too – starting things with a bang on and off the track at Mt San Antonio College, Mt Sac, May 6, 2023.

Organized in cooperation with Sound Running, L.A.’s “Track Fest” is unmissable for running fans (and fans of a good time): The program consists of 800m, 1500m, steeplechase, 5000m, and 10,000m events. Ultra runner Mikey Mitchell will also be in attendance to MC a community race in which L.A.’s local run clubs will compete for bragging rights in a 4×1 mile relay on the legendary Mt. Sac course.

The World Athletics sanctioned silver level event features some of the most prolific athletes of the moment:

Coming off of a record-breaking indoor season, OAC’s Yared Nuguse will face off against teammate and European Bronze medalist Mario Garcia Romo in the 800 meters. Their heat should be quick as three other athletes come to the event with personal bests under the 1:45 mark. This includes Tonatiu Lopez, a Mexican runner who placed twelfth at the Tokyo Olympics.

On Athlete Courtney Wayment looks to build upon her fast indoor season with a  season opener in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. Wayment was the 2022 NCAA steeplechase champion and placed twelfth in the event at her first World Championship later that month.

OAC’s George Beamish hopes to make a splash in his second-ever steeplechase. Beamish made first in his steeple debut at the Mt. SAC relays in April. He will be going up against an experienced field which includes Hillary Bor, who competed for Team USA in both the Tokyo and Brazil Olympics.

Also in terms of musical entertainment, L.A. Track Fest will offer a stellar line-up. While On athlete and The Voice contestant Chloe Abbott will play the opening set, Los Angeles-based rapper Kyle has been confirmed as the headliner.

“Track Fest” Los Angeles is the first event in On’s new global series ‘On Track Nights’. The series provides a platform for high-performing and passionate runners to beat their PBs, gather valuable points for World Championship and Olympic qualification, and, most importantly, set the standard for a new kind of athletics event that brings its stars closer to fans. The series will host events in Los Angeles, London (May 20), Paris (June 10), Vienna (June 17), and Melbourne (later in the year), championing community-focused approaches to high-performance racing.
