Courtney Dauwalter and Salomon continue their partnership until 2029

The queen of ultra running will continue running in Salomon gear before turning to a sports marketing role within the company

Salomon has announced that Courtney Dauwalter has renewed her relationship with the brand for an additional 5 years, until 2029.

Courtney Dauwalter will continue racing until she feels that she has reached the end of her competitive career at which point she will transition to a new role as part of the Salomon family, focused on athlete mentoring, product development and marketing.

“In 2017 the Salomon US team took a chance on me and added me as an ambassador,” shares Courtney Dauwalter. “They sent a box with some pairs of shoes and a few running outfits. They told me they believed in me and had no problem when I asked for my shorts to come from the men’s line. I was over the moon. Walking down memory lane, that same year I ran the Moab 240. Who knew it would be the start of such a special relationship. A partnership. A team. I’m so thankful that what we started 7 years ago is still rolling and growing. Excited to continue this party, stay tuned for some cool stuff we’re working on together. Shortneys and beyond!”

The Minnesota native who has been sponsored by Salomon since 2017 started her career running track and doing cross-country skiing. In recent years she has dominated the world of ultra-trail running with countless female wins and numerous overall top 10 finishes. Her wins include the Hardrock 100, Mount Fuji 100, Western States 100, for which she holds the women’s course records, as well as other long distance ultra trails like UTMB®, Grand Raid de la Réunion, Transgrancanaria, Ultra-Trail Cape Town® and Tahoe 200.

During the 2023 season she became the first runner (male or female) in history to win the Western States, Hardrock and UTMB® in single season. In 2024, she was 3rd overall at the Mount Fuji 100, 4th overall at Hardrock 100 and 2nd overall at the Ultra Trail Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur 100, while winning the women’s title in each race.

In 2025, Courtney will be at the start line of three ultra races:

  • Cocodona 250 in May
  • Lavaredo 120K in June
  • UTMB® in August

COURTNEY’S GEAR: SHORTNEYS & S/LAB GENESIS

Apart from being one of the best ultra distance runners in history, Courtney is also a great source of inspiration for Salomon. In 2022 Courtney and Salomon unveiled a unique apparel collection named “Shortney” paying homage to her love of baggy running shorts, as well as limited editions of the S/LAB Genesis trail running shoe which has been her favorite to race with since its release. In 2025, a new edition of the “Shortney” collection and a new limited edition of the S/LAB Genesis will be released.

“The past 7 years working with Courtney have been so fulfilling for Salomon,” notes Scott Mellin, Salomon’s Global Chief Brand Officer. “Courtney has one of the best track records in trail-running history, completing the only Triple Crown ever by winning Western States, Hardrock and UTMB in the same year, along with several course records under her belt. She is a constant source of inspiration to our product and marketing teams, contributing to unique apparel and footwear collaborations. She is also a role model to our running athletes who look up to her for her achievements, amazing mindset of perseverance and her kindness. We are delighted to continue working with her in the future and thrilled to see what more she can bring to Salomon, and in turn how she develops in the next phase of life as a professional within Salomon!”

THE NEXT STEP IN COURTNEY’S JOURNEY

Courtney knows that ultra trail running is incredibly demanding on the body and announces that she will be racing for another few years before joining Salomon as a full-time employee. This role will focus on mentoring Salomon running athletes as well as contributing to product development and marketing for Salomon running products.

Salomon is looking forward to more races, more chiseling at the pain cave, bright-white smiles, and more time spent with Courtney Dauwalter and her whole crew!
