SunGod launches FORTY2s sunglasses

A running-led design for every athlete, that dominated the London Marathon

Challenger eyewear brand SunGod has launched its all-new performance sunglasses for runners, the FORTY2s. Inspired by the marathon distance yet designed for every runner, these running-focused sunglasses have been turning heads on elite start lines this marathon season. They’re available to purchase worldwide at www.sungod.co, featuring SunGod’s 8KO® nylon lens technology, zero-bounce frame design, and unrivalled Lifetime Guarantee.

Featuring a refined, compact design and shape, the FORTY2s have been developed to suit every runner thanks to a more subtle, less imposing look – that bucks the modern industry trend of bigger and bolder lens shapes. The SunGod FORTY2s are fully modular, in line with the rest of the brand’s Pace Series™ performance range, allowing you to customise completely unique designs through a choice of frame colours and lenses, as well as ergonomically designed ear and nose pads, each designed for a close, stable and bounce-free fit.

“We set out to design a pair of running sunglasses which every runner would feel comfortable wearing,” explained SunGod Head of Product, Ed Watkiss. “We’re constantly evolving our designs based on athlete and community feedback, and for the FORTY2s™, we wanted to focus on the feedback that runners wanted a more subtle and compact design that would suit any environment – from Parkrun to Marathon. We’ve achieved that through the product’s design style, geometry and size, and the feedback throughout the testing process has been fantastic. We can’t wait to share this innovation with the running community from today.”

As with all of SunGod’s products, sustainable design is woven through the FORTY2s™ – from the 100% recycled frame material, which has a 7x lower carbon impact than virgin plastic, all the way through to the recycled and recyclable packaging. The one-piece, interchangeable nylon lens makes use of SunGod’s proprietary 8KO® technology for a clearer, lighter and tougher choice versus industry-standard polycarbonate, and has been developed alongside elite Team SunGod athletes such as Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas, leading British ultra-runner Tom Evans, and McLaren F1 Team. This lens also offers 100% UVA/UVB protection and is available in a photochromic option, which lightens and darkens in response to UV for a seamless experience on every run.

After being extensively tested with SunGod athletes in training and competition during the R&D phase, the FORTY2s were put on the main stage most recently at the London Marathon, worn by fastest Brit Mahamed Mahamed and elite runners Anya Culling and Phil Sesemann, to name a few. This showcases the true versatility of this model, which is at home from 5k race to marathon pace. Despite being built as a running-first model, the SunGod FORTY2s™ can easily be transitioned across sports, making them a true multidiscipline model for all.

The product is now available from www.sungod.co or in-store at the recently launched SunGod Basecamp London in Covent Garden, where you can personalise your own pair at the store’s customisation bar. You’ll also find them available at SunGod’s growing network of retail partners in the UK and beyond.
