Salomon, the global leader in trail running and winter sports, has announced that Swiss trail runner and ski mountaineer Remi Bonnet has renewed his partnership with the brand as part of a multi-year agreement.
He will continue to run in a full trail running kit from Salomon – including footwear, apparel and bag/running vest.
A HISTORICAL PARTNERSHIP
Bonnet, 28, has been with Salomon since he was just 20 years old and experienced his first professional success using a full complement of Salomon footwear, apparel and gear.
“Remi really embodies the DNA of Salomon,” said Vincent Viet, Manager of the Salomon international trail running team. “He’s an amazing climber, probably the best in the world right now, and he is also amongst the very best ski-mountaineers out there. Salomon is proud to have been with him since the start of his career, helping him get to the point he is at today. It only makes sense that we continue working together and offering him a partnership at the level of his skills.”
Bonnet has been part of Salomon’s product development team for several years, collaborating with R&D inside the brand to create technical footwear, apparel and bags
designed for trail running races from 20 to 40 kilometers, including the recent S/LAB Pulsar 2, which he uses for most of his races.
“Salomon has been with me from the beginning and has allowed me to make a living out of something I’m passionate about,” Bonnet said. “I’ve had the chance to meet exceptional people and travel to magical places, which I’m very thankful for. Working closely with the product development teams to create the best footwear, apparel and bags for these types of races is super interesting.”
A RECORD-BREAKING 2023 SEASON
The 2023 season was nearly perfect for Remi Bonnet. He won the season-long title of the Golden Trail World Series by taking the top spot on the podium at three races. He won the Marathon du Mont-Blanc in record time (3h35′), then broke the 30-year-old Pikes Peak ascent record by 46 seconds in 2h00’20. He picked up another win the US at the Mammoth Trail Fest, leading nearly from start to finish. Leading by a comfortable margin heading into the GTWS Finale in II Golfo dell Isola, Italy, he finished 4th to be crowned the season-long champion for the second consecutive year.
Bonnet’s only low moment came at Sierre-Zinal, where he was feeling unwell and forced to drop out of the race. He will return to the iconic Swiss race in 2024 looking to make amends.
“The Pikes Peak record was a crazy bet, but I gave it everything I had, with a lot of specific training including a lot of time spent at high altitude, and it was magical to prove that this record was indeed breakable,” Bonnet said. “Sierre-Zinal will be my focus for the 2024 season. I hope I can show the best version of myself there. I’m always happy when I win a race, but I’m always focused on my next objectives, and I try not to look back too much. I will do that when my career is over.”
In 2023, the Swiss star also stole the show during the 2023 ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Championship, winning both the Vertical Race and Individual Race overall rankings. Bonnet also uses Salomon apparel and bags for his ski-mountaineering competitions.
In addition to winning many of the most challenging trail races around the world, Bonnet has a growing following on social media, where he posts videos of his training and races-on the trails and in the snow.
“At Salomon, it’s important for us to work with athletes who can communicate and share their passion with the communities who are as passionate about the sports as they are,” says Viet. “Remi embodies this, and his athletic performances are at the pinnacle of the sport. We are thrilled to keep him in the Salomon team for years to come.”
