Masters of the mud INOV8 have launched a new series of MUDTALON™ V2 shoes so runners can play dirty this winter.
The MUDTALON™ ZERO V2, MUDTALON™ SPEED V2 and MUDTALON™ V2 are all evolutions of original V1 models launched last year.
With improved grip, fit and drainage, INOV8 say the new shoes will help runners attack fells, mountains and trails with even more control and confidence.
The detailed upgrades to the V2 shoes include an even stickier outsole rubber that grips 36% better to wet rocks, redesigned uppers that deliver a tighter midfoot hold, and new drainage holes to help any water escape quicker.
INOV8 athlete Andy Berry, holder of the Lake District 24-Hour Fell Record, has been testing the MUDTALON™ V2 models. He said: “The improved grip, especially on wet rock, mean these shoes feel as fast as they look.
“The better drainage allows your feet to stay as comfortable as possible, even on the wettest mountain days.”
Forged in the rugged fells of the English Lake District in 2003, INOV8’s first-ever shoe – called the MUDROC 290 – was specifically designed for running over muddy, rocky terrain.
Built on the early success of that shoe, the brand launched the hugely popular MUDCLAW™ and X-TALON™ ranges.
Then, in early 2024, INOV8 brought the best design elements of the MUDCLAW™ and X-TALON™ together to unveil the MUDTALON™ series.
At the same time, the brand changed the shape of all its footwear to be more natural fitting. INOV8 say their NATURALFIT™ design allows toes more room to perform naturally and enhances both performance and foot health.
INOV8 athlete Billy Cartwright, former British & English Fell Running Champion, has also been testing the MUDTALON™ V2 shoes. He said: “The improved grip gives me extra confidence. They are also really versatile and can handle all types of challenging fell terrain.”
MUDTALON™ V2 shoes are available to buy now direct from INOV8 (UK and Europe only at this stage) or through their retail partners.
