This year, Manchester University has chosen to rename its annual relay event after the late Iconic British Marathon Runner, Dr. Ron Hill, who attended and completed a PhD in textile chemistry at UMIST.
This honour was warmly welcomed by the two brands he founded, Ronhill and Hilly, both of which supported the event.
Graham Richards, the Director of Ronhill/Hilly, said: “It was very fitting that the iconic Relay was named after Ron, who died in May 2021. Ron was awarded his degree and PhD from the university and ran the relay on several occasions, including one year running all six legs.”
