On joins forces with renowned coach Louis Heyer

On has announced that it will be supporting the “800m WOMEN Project” as their official partner. The “800m WOMEN Project” is a training group based between Bienne/Magglingen, Switzerland, and Potchefstroom, South Africa, coached by former Swiss Athletics coach Louis Heyer.

On will support the training group consisting of Valentina Rosamilia (SUI), Rachel Pellaud (SUI), Gabriela Gajanová (SVK), Angelika Sarna (POL), Kristiina Mäki (CZE), and Bregje Sloot (NED),  with running gear and financial aid to support their athletes with travel expenses, housing, physiotherapy needs and R&D perspectives.

Louis Heyer brings a wealth of experience to the team. As the former Head Coach of Endurance at the Swiss Athletics Federation, Heyer attended three Olympic Games, eight World Championships, and 12 European Championships. His training philosophy is grounded in a physiological model for the 800m, with a strong emphasis on running economy. His coaching is known for its blend of scientific methodology, sensitivity, and a humanistic approach.

On recognizes the importance of supporting young female athletes, who often face challenges and pressures that can lead them to drop out of sports. Partnering with Louis Heyer and his training group aligns with On’s commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment where these athletes can thrive and reach their full potential.

This partnership also provides a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange between Heyer, On’s internal sports science team, and their network of coaches. The collaboration will focus on the science aspect of training, allowing for a deeper understanding of athletic performance and developing innovative training approaches tailored to the specific needs of female athletes.
