Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB® closes an edition marked by international competition and the atmosphere in the mountains

Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB® has brought four days of competition to a close, turning Ordino into one of the centres of international trail running, with the Ultra 105K as the sporting focal point of the weekend. With nearly 3,800 runners and a broad international field, the event further strengthens its position within the UTMB World Series and the global calendar.

From Thursday, with the start of the activities programme and the opening of the Trail Expo, through to the final finishers on Sunday, the event combined competition, participation and a constant public presence both in the town centre and in the mountains.

The Ultra 105K, the centrepiece of the week

The flagship distance once again shaped the event as a whole. The Ultra 105K, held on Saturday, drew the sporting spotlight on a high-mountain course with technical and demanding sections that forced runners to manage their effort over many hours.

Despite the course adjustment, the race retained its character over a weekend of stable conditions that allowed participants to race consistently in an environment that continues to define the identity of the event.

Competition and race development

The competitive programme opened on Friday with the Trail 80K, where Andorran runner Samuel Ponce claimed victory on home soil (07:39:01), while Germany’s Juliane Rössler took the women’s win (09:19:57).

On Saturday, the Trail 50K delivered one of the most competitive races of the weekend, with Kenya’s Robert Pkemoi taking victory (05:13:28) in his first participation in the UTMB World Series, while Gemma Arenas won the women’s race (06:34:36).

Across all distances, the presence of a competitive international field led to closely contested races, with small gaps and outcomes often decided in the final sections.

Among the standout figures at the event were both UTMB co-founders, Catherine and Michel Poletti. Michel Poletti competed in the Trail 80K after completing a long trek across France that took him from Trail Alsace to Andorra.

Atmosphere in the mountains and local involvement

One of the most visible elements throughout the weekend was the growing presence of spectators along the courses. Beyond the finish line in Ordino, mountain sections increasingly drew supporters, creating an atmosphere of constant encouragement for the runners.

The event relied on a broad operational setup, with 34 healthcare professionals and emergency teams, 12 ambulances and 2 doctors, as well as 25 staff members and 80 volunteers linked to IRONMAN Andorra, in addition to a team of 20 media professionals.

In the words of Agustí P. Capdevila, Regional Director of The IRONMAN Group in Southern Europe:
“Trail 100 Andorra continues to grow within the circuit, both in sporting level and in the response from the territory. This year we once again recorded close to 3,800 participants, and we saw bibs sell out faster than in previous editions, which confirms the interest the event generates.”

Capdevila also highlighted the event’s current position:
“What we saw over the weekend is a race that is now firmly established within the UTMB World Series, with international participation and a highly engaged local community, which is what gives this kind of event its meaning.”

A week of sustained impact

Throughout the week, the presence of runners and accompanying visitors generated steady activity in Ordino, from the arrival of participants to the final ceremonies.

The combination of sport, territory and community once again proved to be one of the pillars of Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB®, reinforcing its role as an international event with local impact.
