Ross Blackburn talks about what running brand Topo Athletic offers

A collective range that offers something for everybody

Topo Athletic was launched in 2013 by Tony Post, based in Framingham, just on the outskirts in the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts.

Ross Blackburn, OSC Topo Athletic sales for UK and Ireland, talks to us about the brand and new releases on the way.

Ross said: “Tony’s key philosophy was to create the best natural running shoe brand in the world.

“We like to think we’ve got a little bit of a point of difference. We feel like we’ve got a product within the range that we’ll suit every different kind of clientele.

“I’ve tried to put together a range of shoes for the UK market that we feel work for as many different customers as possible and retailers, because we can work on both road and trail.

“The range has certainly expanded a little bit over the last six to eight months and it will expand again into 2025.

“But we’re bringing in the products we feel suit our UK market.”

Ross believes that while Topo Athletic have a great and varied range of shoes, he only wants to offer retailers the shoes that he thinks the UK customers want.

He added: “I don’t take everything, I just physically can’t. So we go for the things that we think will suit our UK market as far as that goes.

“If we look at our top five it’s actually three road shoes and two trail shoes in the UK market at the moment. So it’s fairly evenly balanced, probably around about a 60-40 split road to trail
“But, when you sort of delve down deeper into our trail offering, there are certain shoes that obviously are very heavily dominated in that category.
“So things like the Mountain Racer and the Ultraventure are our best sort of selling 2 shoes at the moment.
“But, when we come onto road, there’s a bit more than even split across it.
“So, I think that will change in 2025 with some of the new shoes that we’ve got coming in.”
