Salomon A/W 2024/25 road running range introduces new gravel segment

New DRX running shoe range provides comfort and guidance on all your training runs, from paved roads to dirt roads

Salomon has unveiled its new range for road and gravel running for the Fall/Winter 2024/25 season.

From making its first hiking boots in 1992, to the first XA Pro trail running shoe in 2002, and now offering a road running range with everything from cushy training shoes to carbon-plated supershoes, Salomon has been making excellent footwear for outdoor experiences for over 30 years.

In recent years, Salomon has built a strong range of road running products, including the Aero Glide with dynamic comfort featuring mellow cushioning for training, the DRX Bliss for dynamic support that creates a guided, confident stride, and options for all runners looking to break their own PBs with the S/LAB Spectur and S/LAB Phantasm 2.

New runners have recently joined the Salomon running team, including Emilie Morier, a renowned triathlete who aims to reach the top 20 of the Pro Triathlete Organization leaderboards by 2027, and German runner Tabea Themann, who, after recovering from the Lyme disease in 2021, ran a 2h31’ marathon in Berlin in 2023 and aims to break 2h30’ in 2024.

With the growth of road running, trail running, and everything in-between, including races like The Speed Project, the frontier between road and trail running is becoming more and more subtle, creating a place where endurance and exploration are blending seamlessly. It is common to find mixed terrain on a run, including dirt roads, gravel paths, and unpaved trails, which makes for a more varied and challenging experience. Versatility, resilience, spirit of adventure, this is GRVL: escaping the monotony of paved routes and embracing the unpredictability of the natural landscape.

For the Fall/Winter 2024/25 season, Salomon unveils a new concept: GRVL, standing for “gravel”, which is all about runs on mixed terrains. The DRX range gets an update with the DRX Bliss 2 and the DRX Defy featuring an activeCHASSIS for confidence at every landing. The DRX Defy GRVL adds a contaGRIP outsole with 2.5mm lugs so you can easily transition from pavement to trails and vice-versa. The Spectur shoe for speedy training also gets an update with the Spectur 2. Each model is engineered with advanced technology in the bottom unit, with a combination of an activeCHASSIS on both sides to create stability and confidence, paired with a lightweight, bouncy offer exceptional support, comfort, and performance across diverse terrains and training needs.

Take your runs further with confidence with the DRX Range

With the DRX Defy GRVL, the run doesn’t stop where the asphalt ends! Combining over 35 years of expertise in running footwear, Salomon introduces the DRX DEFY GRVL, designed for runners who seek adventure beyond paved roads. This guided lightweight trainer empowers you to keep running, even on gravel, with its innovative technologies: built on Salomon’s exceptionally light and extremely responsive Energy Foam, the Reactive Cushion provides premium cushioning and rebound for a dynamic run. The activeCHASSIS system channels your body’s natural movements, offering light guidance at the rear for a balanced, natural stride. Inspired by gravel bike treads, the Gravel Grip outsole is designed for a superior grip, allowing smooth transitions from asphalt to gravel and back again.

For those seeking a guided, responsive run, the DRX Defy offers unparalleled comfort and support. Ideal for both short runs and longer training sessions, it features the light and responsive energyFOAM, delivering premium cushioning and rebound, propelling you forward with each stride. The activeCHASSIS system focuses on the rear part of your foot to create a safe feeling every time your foot lands on the ground, guiding your body’s natural movements for a balanced stride. This lightweight foam paired with an upper with optimal material composition provide a perfect blend of lightness, cushioning, support, and stability. The collar and tongue feature soft and plush fabric, while the upper uses Salomon’s sensiFIT construction to create a snug feeling all around your foot.

The SPECTUR 2 embodies race-day performance in a training shoe designed for all runners, engineered for explosive energy and stability, ensuring you can aim for your personal best with every run. The energyFOAM midsole offers lightness and dynamism, delivering incredible energy return and cushioning to keep your legs fresh. A unique R.camber sole geometry combined with a full-length glass fiber energyBLADE makes for fluid transitions and less time spent on the ground, so you can push faster on interval trainings. The wide heel platform and the energyBLADE technology provide extra stability, giving you the confidence to excel in fast training sessions.

For the runners who are looking for a high-stack shoe with a feeling of confidence and guidance, the updated DRX Bliss 2 combines a cushy midsole for comfort, a stable chassis for lateral stability and an updated upper construction for improved foothold and support. The upper has been reworked to create a snugger feeling and provide even more support. The heel and tongue still provide padding to hold your heel and ankle, while the sensiFIT, the new tongue construction and new lacing system secure your foothold for a confident, enjoyable run. The DRX Bliss 2 uses a new e-mesh with reduced overlays, which improves breathability. Comfort is key and the energyFOAM placed in the midsole of the shoe makes sure to provide that premium cushioning, as well as creating a responsive, almost bouncy feeling underfoot. This every day running shoe uses the denser Active Chassis foam technology on each side to support your foot and guide it while you run, creating a stable shoe that will make you feel confident.
